ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would preside over the second National Action Plan (NAP) meeting in two days, to discuss its implementation.
Thursday’s meeting pertaining to the implementation of the NAP would be conducted at the Prime Minister House. According to sources, the points which were left incomplete in Tuesday’s meeting would be discussed and additional points of the plan would also be deliberated upon.
During the meeting, the prime minister would also be briefed on Operation Zarb-e-Azb and the anti-terrorist operations that have been conducted. It is also expected that consultations would be held and practical steps at the provincial level would also be discussed to speed up action against militants and their facilitators.
During the previous meeting, it was decided that the federal government would provide the provincial governments with all the necessary resources to ensure implementation on the NAP. It was also decided in Tuesday’s meeting to further strengthen and improve the intelligence mechanism in the country.
PM Nawaz had advised all intelligence agencies to consult the provincial governments in Tuesday’s meetings. During the briefings, the prime minister was also informed by senior intelligence officials that a foreign hand was involved in various terror attacks and important evidence had also been found pertaining to sabotaging the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The suicide bomb blast on Monday at the Civil Hospital Quetta sent the country into shock and despair. More than seventy people had been killed and scores had been injured after a suicide bomber blew himself up in the hospital and gunfire followed after that. Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the ghastly attack.
