LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Sunday issued the detailed verdict in former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s bullet-proof car retention case, stating that several retired judges, including Chuadhry, had been using perks they weren’t entitled to.
In his 31-page judgment, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kyani has remarked that several judges had been enjoying perks from government funds that they were not entitled to under Judges Pension Order, 1997.
The judgment added that Iftikhar Chaudhry was only allowed to keep one guard and one driver after the retirement but the former CJ had one head constable, two sub-inspectors, nine constables and two drivers with him still.
It went on to clear that Prime Minister had no right to allow any additional benefits on any judge.
Earlier, on March 9, LHC had ruled that Iftikhar Chaudhry had been keeping the bullet-proof car illegally as he was not eligible to keep it under Judges Pension Order, 1997.
